All events are free and open to the public!

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 7:00 PM, join us at UAB’s Hulsey Recital Hall as we launch the fourth annual Birmingham New Music Festival! Birmingham Art Music Alliance proudly presents Miolina Duo, New York City’s specialists in new music for two violins, and, returning to Birmingham, virtuoso cellist Craig Hultgren. This concert will feature electroacoustic music by Alabama composers, violin duos with electronics/video by Lynn Bechtold and Melissa Grey performed by Miolina, and works for cello and electronics by Brooke Joyce and David Morneau performed by Hultgren.

On Friday, October 13, 2017, at 7:30 PM, we are happy to present a program in Birmingham’s historic St. Paul United Methodist Church. MIOLINA DUO presents a program including both acoustic and electroacoustic works (pieces for the two violinists plus electronics). Composers include Andrew Dewar, Monroe Golden, Holland Hopson, Mark Lackey, Kyle McGucken, and Brian C. Moon. Cellist Craig Hultgren will join Miolina for a performance of an antiphonal trio by Takuma Itoh.

On Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 1 PM, this concert will feature young pianists performing newly created works written specifically for their ability level by BAMA composers including Kyle McGucken, William Price, Monroe Golden, Mark Lackey, Michael Coleman, Brian C. Moon, Andrew Bullard, Donald Ashworth, and Chris Steele. New to this year’s festival, this concert is presented in cooperation with the Birmingham Metro Music Forum.

On Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 2:30 PM, we are proud to present the all-new BAMA Players, a lineup of first-rate professional musicians from the Birmingham area, playing music by local composers. Also included will be works by Aaron Israel Levin and Xingzimin Pan, selections from an exciting exchange program between Birmingham Art Music Alliance and the Iowa Composers Forum.
